Jungle Fever.

Last weekend we had a jungle themed party at The Foundry in Long Island City. The space is raw and industrial, and we had a great time decorating it with vines, tropical leaves, ropes, spanish moss, lanterns and hundreds of candles.

These are the quick photos that I took before we left, but we hope to have a few professional pictures soon.

Mother's Day Gift Idea: The Urban Garden.

Using one of my favorite color palettes, I created this fun, contemporary plantscape. It features dahlia, potato vine, angel vine, coral bell and curly-wurly, to name a few ( YES, it really was labeled curly-wurly at the nursery).

This would be a great gift for the Mom in your life who loves to garden, or who simply wants lively, modern and stylish touches for the home. It's so versatile because it can make a great centerpiece for a few weeks before taking the individual plants and re-potting elsewhere.
All plants come in their original plastic containers and care instruction are included for each one.

The larger container measures 15 inches long and can fit up to four plants. The smaller container is 13 inches long and takes about three plants. Ask us about different color and plant options.

Well I Never...

Last week I found this unusual flower in the market. The guys in the market called it Isopogen, and apparently the cone-shaped flower in the above picture is produced after the bloom (pictured below).

The guys in the market couldn't tell me much more about the flower so I did a bit of internet research of my own. According to this website the Isopogen is in the protea family and originated in Australia.

We always love to find new and unusual flowers-- so finding this wild looking bunch was pretty exciting!

Elizabeth and Karim. Classic Wedding style.

Elizabeth and Karim had a gorgeous and intimate April wedding, held at The River Cafe. Elizabeth's inspiration was timeless, romantic and feminine style. She added many sweet details to her table. One of my favorite's was the white crocheted votives, made by her Mom.

The wedding also appeared in last Sunday's New York Times!

For their flowers, we selected a variety of cream and peach heirloom roses. Also included were ranunculus, lisianthus, hydrangea, and andromeda. The antique style vase, with the cracked ceramic finish, added to the nostalgic feel of the centerpieces.

The first three photographs in this post were taken by Kella Macphee who has many more stunning photos on her blog. The images feel so personal and Kella really captured the happiness of the couple.

Bows And Arrows: Expect the Unexpected....

Bows and Arrows is a must read blog created by Alicia and Adam Rico. After their unforgettable wedding, (which was posted in Brooklyn Bride) they relocated from New York to Alicia's hometown: Dallas, Texas. Once there, they immediately got to work on their dream shop. Bows and Arrows is a fun and discerning mix of Art, Floral Design and Craft. I always find something fresh and interesting here.
Adam's self portrait, being viewed at their group show " (SOUTH) south". His paintings are amazing.

Alicia's sculpture, titled "Debutant".

Some of my favorite flowers in this bouquet: Anemones!

Alicia's jewelry. Barbie shoes are often involved.

Yummy corsage. I also love it as a photograph alone.

Check them out!
