Black & White Photoshoot Featured on Style Me Pretty

A few days ago, we had the honor of seeing our work featured on Style Me Pretty's main page. Event planners Kristen and Lauren of Bellafare asked us to design flowers for a black and white, NewYork wedding photoshoot, full of classic glamour. Jen Huang took all of the exquisite photos shown here:

Decorating Your Event With Candlelight

After seeing so many events come together, I can honestly say there is no easier and more effective way to create ambiance, highlight your centerpieces and add drama than by adding more candles...

Occasionally, a client of ours comes to us with visions of adding tons of candlelight to their decor. But I often feel it is an afterthought for most. I'm not talking about three little votives around a vase arrangement. My advise; imagine of the number of candles you think is appropriate and double or triple that! This is way less expensive than adding on a lighting designer or pin spotting and its so much more romantic.

If your budget is tight, then taking inexpensive glass cylinder vases and adding pillar candles or floating candles is the least expensive option. But there is nothing "cheap" or "budget" looking about the effects. I think the images here say it all. Cluster grouping of cylinder vases at different heights down your aisle, entry-way, on windows, bars, and seating card tables.

On the dinner tables, even adding a few decorative candles to what the venue or caterer is providing will give your table a more custom look and ambient light.

If you have a larger budget, then there are so many styles to choose from. If you love classic and traditional styles then look for candelabras, pedestal candle holders, mercury glass and anything with clean lines. If vintage, rustic or garden speaks to you; look for tarnished metal and rust finishes and unique displays. There are many new wire, and birdcage-like style lanterns and votives popping up everywhere.

Lastly; I predict the taper candle is going to make a comeback for 2012. And it should! They are so elegant; especially when they start dripping down the sides. They take up less room and can even be slipped into skinny hurricanes if your venue doesn't allow open flames.

Fall Flowers: A Painterly Palette

The past month has been a busy one, and it hardly feels like "work" when you have the joy of walking into the flower market and seeing the explosion of colors available.

It reminds me of my art school days when I would go shopping for oil paint. I could stare at the richly colored tubes for hours, wanting every one that I saw.

This is the best time of year to play with colorful flowers, textures and fruits as a painter would. There are the traditional vivid oranges, reds and golds and they are always lovely and festive. I love to add fruit and berry elements to these arrangements. Not only are there apples available; but also pomegranates, persimmons and rose-hips.

I also tend to be drawn to the wealth of complex and unusual shades like taupe roses, chocolatey brown orchids, and the dahlias that look like the've been splattered with a paint brush. There has been gorgeous porcelain berry in the studio for the past few weeks (the blue berry pictured above).

As well as enjoying a busy wedding season; we have been sending out lush and seasonal gift arrangements, hostess gifts and flowers for intimate dinner parties at home. Everyone is turning their attention to entertaining indoors, gift giving, cooking and crafts. We are gathering our ideas for holiday flowers and decor and will be sharing more soon!

Flowers on Fifth Avenue

This cocktail party was held in an amazing raw space on Fifth Avenue. The space had two balconies, and from one of the them you could see Central Park. The views of the city were stunning, we just had to be careful to not look over the edge!

Right now, QuatreCoeur's work is featured in the Fall/Winter issues of Town&Country Weddings and Brides Local Magazines.

For Town and Country Weddings Magazine, we were asked to create a sleek calla lily bouquet for the article "Get the City Look". We added accents of muscari, celosia, and interesting foliage.

For Brides Magazine, we were asked to make a few bouquets which were used on the covers. A different version of the cover went to each region of the country. The editors' favorite was definitely the succulent and blush rose bouquet. The bouquet of red blooms was also chosen for a cover. Often I feel nervous when using red (so difficult to coordinate with other colors) so I was really happy with the results! By adding burgundy peony, fuchsia roses, rusty hellebores and anthiriums; the classic color looked fresh and unique.

We also were featured inside of the New York Brides Local Magazine Fall/Winter issue, in an article about local florists.

Photo-shoots are a great opportunity to try out new designs and experiment with unexpected color palettes. We had a great time and are very excited to have this much press all at once!

Real Wedding: Nadine & Brian

We are excited to share a few of our favorite pictures from Brian & Nadine's July wedding at The View on the Hudson. All photos were taken by the super talented Patricia Kantozos (who we also worked with on this spring wedding).

From the very beginning, Nadine knew she wanted bright and colorful flowers, but not arranged in the typical wedding centerpiece style. This was the perfect opportunity to design something we like to call a "floral carpet". This simply is arranging flowers floating on water, but using so many flowers that they are locked into their spot and form a landscape that is textural and interesting. Ruth and I have been long time fans of Spanish florist, Bornay, and were thrilled to get to create something inspired by her work.

Jillian & Josh's Vintage Flower Market Wedding

We waited patiently all summer to post pics from Jillian and Josh's amazingly floral centric wedding. Green Wedding Shoes recently featured this story with our work and the many talented vendors we met during the planning process (click the link to see more ).

Jillian and Josh were married on July 3rd at The Hudson Terrace, NYC. The highlights of the event for us were constructing an elegant white strung-orchid and linen covered chuppah. With the exception of Jillian's bouquet, all of the ceremony decor was white and green.

And, like Dorothy entering the Land of Oz for the first time; things changed dramatically for the reception. We designed two types of centerpieces. The first featured a cloche bell with a pretty moss landscape and garden flowers, surrounded by delicate bud vases. The second centerpiece was a landscape of more rustic elements including vintage tea tins, birch wood slices and mason jar vases. Kimberly of Inspired Goodness added even more "goodness" to the table with lace wrapped votives, vintage brooches and miniature vials of seed beads. But, best of all, our seating card display was re-styled into a French themed flower market and guests took some of the loveliness home with them.

A Hurricane Story.

After months of preparation, everything was set: the wedding would be on Saturday, August 27 at the Bronx Zoo. The ceremony and cocktails would be outdoors, and the party would move inside for dinner and dancing. But, no one had planned for a hurricane.

All day Friday while arranging the 80+ centerpieces, Ruth and I were getting frantic updates about Hurricane Irene. Despite the news, we continued to work, in hopes that the wedding would happen as planned.

Around 3pm on Friday, Leslie, owner of Sage Events, calledto give us the bad news-- the Zoo canceled, deciding to closes its doors forthe weekend. Before we could wrapour minds around the fact that the wedding itself could be canceled, Leslie,the amazing event planner she is, had a Plan B. The wedding would now take place a day later and at adifferent venue; the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City.

As weather updates rolled in, we learned the worst of thestorm was supposed to hit on Sunday. We were suddenly faced with the question,“How would we delivery the centerpieces, bouquets and chuppah in middle of ahurricane?” We decided our bestoption was to deliver the flowers to the venue on Saturday, a day before thewedding.

Saturday morning was cloudy, humid and eerie as we packedthe van amidst the rain and wind. Thanksto Rob the Mover and the accommodating staff at the Metropolitan Building, thedelivery went smoothly, and the flowers were left safely in the cool basementawaiting Sunday’s wedding. We thenwent home and braced for the storm.

Having grown up on the plains of Wyoming, I am no stranger to severe weather-- fierce winds, blinding blizzards, deadly tornados, and damaging hail storms were all a part of my childhood. But, storms in NYC take on a different nature altogether— the hysteria surrounding this storm was infectious and the uncertainty of how the city would react made me uneasy. Even though I was exhausted, I hardly slept Saturday night. I kept having the horrible vision that the centerpieces might be washed away in a flood.

Early Sunday morning I looked out my window and expected tosee the worst, but thank goodness the storm did not hit Brooklyn as hard as predicted. And then there was more good news; Icalled the venue to get a report from LIC, and there was no flooding or poweroutages. But then I got some badnews when I called Ruth. The streets in her neighborhood had flooded, and itwas impossible for her to get out of her apartment. She was so disappointed to miss seeing this wedding throughto completion.

On top of Ruth being stuck, the staff we hired for thewedding could not make it. I knewI couldn’t set up this entire wedding by myself, so I asked my husband to comeand help. He graciously became myassistant, and along with Leslie’s team and the help of the staff at theMetropolitan Building the wedding turned out lovely.

I am so glad that the bride and groom, despite Irene, wereable to have their wedding with over 100 of their family and friends. Even with ever-changing plans and weather forecasts, Leslie never doubted thiswedding was going to happen, and QuatreCoeur is happy to be a part of such amemorable wedding story.

I love the rich colors of the decor and the old-world detail at the Bowery Hotel. The layout of the event space is perfect for an indoor/outdoor event. And even though it was a rainy day, we were excited for this recent wedding.

To complement the decor we designed half the centerpieces in antique-like conservatories (the other centerpieces were designed in a large zinc bowl), using garden roses, celosia, succulents, fiddlehead fern, orchids, agapanthus, calla lilies, millet and one of my favorite seasonal flowers-- blushing bride protea.

Real Wedding: Jessica & Hendrick

ince our last post was about the beauty of an early April wedding, we are following up with this lovely wedding from the same season.

Jessica and Hendrick's wedding was held at the New Leaf Restaurant. The reception flowers were styled for long tables with a refined collection of glass and miniature metal buckets, filled with garden roses, ranunculus, lisianthus and jasmine vines.

The surroundings at Fort Tyron Park made for a dramatic backdrop to the ceremony. The tall cherry blossom arrangements framed the ceremony area and really stood out against the bare branches of the trees.

Recently, our work was featured on Merci New York, with images of this very lovely Spring wedding. Here are some of our favorite images.

Kari loves pink but not just any pink. Our designer's challenge was to find the palest blush pink flowers available. Her bouquet features a mass of blush peony tied with gold ribbon; the variety was called "mother's choice".

We created pale pink and white centerpieces for the tables using all Spring blossoms such as hyacinth, ranunculus, and tulips. We also installed handmade fabric "poms" over her dance floor. The ceremony and reception took place at the Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City. When the wedding party started to arrive, one bridesmaid exclaimed, "It's just like a Midsummer Nights Dream!" We couldn't agree more.

We used some of the most beautiful local lavender ranunculus, along with lilac, roses, and lisianthus.

On May 21, we created these effortlessly pretty wedding flowers for a lovely couple: Cynthia and Jamaal.

Cynthia collected many of her own decorative elements like the vintage books, burlap overlays, and mason jars. We styled all these elements and added big, blousy seasonal flowers in a soft watercolor palette, including local white lilac, hydrangea, peony, and snowball viburnum. The overall effect created was elegant, yet laid back: perfect for dinner under a candlelit tent.

And then there is her dress! Just look at the photos and you will understand what is impossible to describe here. So beautiful and at the same time (dare we say) comfortable looking!

Real Wedding: Julia & Ben

We were excited to create these colorful centerpieces for a recent spring wedding at the Puck Building.

The bride didn't want each centerpiece to look alike, so to mix it up we used two styles of mercury glass vases and we created a few different flower arrangement recipes (we write recipes, just like a cook would, to help us keep track of what and how many flowers to use-- i.e. 3 peony, 5 roses, 5 ranunculus, etc. per arrangement). In some of the arrangements we used juliet garden roses as the focal point, and in others we used coral peonies. To fill out the arrangements we used parrot tulips, wild sweet pea, roses, scaboisa, ranunculus, poppies and tangerines.

With the Spring wedding season in full swing, we have had the privilege of working with the most beautiful flowers this past month! Here is a sampling of some of my favorite bouquets, created for our April weddings.

All of the bridal "must have" flowers can be found here; peony, heirloom roses, ranunculus, and tulips with fun accents like fuschia orchids, anemone and jasmine vines. The peony have been especially memorable so far and we are excited that this wedding favorite is only just beginning it's season.

Real Wedding: Tamar & Ari

The past couple of months have been full of creative and fun projects-- running the gamut of making bouquets for the cover of Brides Local Magazine, to providing the flowers for a taping of a reality tv show (more on both of these later!).

Now we are in the midst of wedding season, and we are excited to share a few photos from Tamar & Ari's Prospect Park, Picnic House event. We created two different centerpieces for Tamar. To add height and drama, some of the round tables got large and beautiful vases full of white cherry; the rest of the tables got low and lush arrangements of various sizes.

Tamar liked a lot of different textures and greens so as a base we used seeded eucalyptus, lemon leaf, rosemary and lambs ear, then we added green hydrangea, plum calla lilies, white garden rose, white spray roses, a dusty lavender rose, small pieces of white cherry, and the most amazing local white ranunculus. To add another layer of texture we wrapped the bottom of each vase with a strip of burlap.

Ingrid and Phillipe: 1/01/11

On the first day of this year we arranged flowers for Ingrid and Phillipe's beautiful winter wedding. The ceremony and reception were held at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

We did a romantic aisle treatment with rose petals and luminaries. A birch chuppah, was held by the groomsmen. Ingrid wanted a chic and contemporary orchid centerpiece, so we planted a unique variety called 'solar flare' in dark wooden containers with white river stones. The tables were filled with romantic pillar and votive candles. The bride carried a bouquet of velvety crimson amaryllis blossoms.

Winter Citrus

A few weeks back we created these cute little arrangements for a tasting event hosted by a boutique catering company, Food Matters. Because the event was taking place in the beautiful, colorful and ornate Prince George Ballroom, we decided to use a clean and simple color palette of whites, oranges and greens using football mums, roses, white and green ranunculus, and seasonal fruit (kumquats).

New Year's Eve Bouquets.

It's always so gratifying to receive thank you's and images from our brides. We never met the couple shown here face to face, but corresponded through emails for several months. That's because Vicki and Gavin, the bride and groom, and their closest friends traveled all the way from London to New York for their wedding day. They were wed on the top of the Empire State Building on New Year's Eve, 2010. It doesn't get more romantic than that!

For the flowers, Vicki requested white and red, with gold ribbons. We chose the crispest winter white roses and tulips, and paired them with deep crimson amaryllis and orchids. The overall look was tailored and lush... perfect for the setting of the ceremony.

Back in July, we created this bouquet and centerpiece for the Martha Stewart Weddings/ Winter 2011 issue. And now that this issue is for sale, we no longer have to keep it a secret!

These images can be found in the "Perfect Palette" feature, which has great style ideas for planning a wedding by color.

The bouquet: With white and slate as the starting point, we found these gorgeous gray succulents and airplants. We chose greenery with soft gray tones such as olive leaves and lambs ear, as well as white scabiosa and orchids. This is the perfect bouquet for a bride who loves something dramatic and unusual.

The centerpiece: A great idea for a modern orange and white wedding. Kumquats and clementines paired with stephanotis and fragrant gardenias. This centerpiece would be perfect for a cool loft or restaurant venue.

A few months ago, we wrote a post about Lisa and Chris's modern romantic wedding. Here are a few of our favorite professional images that we just received.

The flower girls carried red carnation pomanders instead of a traditional basket of petals. I love the way it looks against her white dress!

Diane Stredicke, the photographer, did a beautiful job of capturing the couple, the bouquets and the centerpieces by candlelight. Another favorite detail of this wedding was Lisa and Chris's sweetheart table which had three small "poufs" of roses, carnations and baby's breath, arranged at different heights.

Overall, what was so memorable about this wedding for us was to be able to use these classic and even ordinary flowers in such a fresh, contemporary way. For brides who love this look, the possibilities for color options are endless and these flowers are available in all seasons.

A few photos of centerpieces we made for an event this week at the 3 West Club.

We forgot to bring the camera with us on the delivery - but the Club was beautifully decorated for the holidays with fresh garland, wreathes, trees and candles.

After the delivery we walked over to Rockefeller Center and saw the giant Christmas tree. I've lived in NYC for six years and I have to admit that this is the first time I have seen the tree in person. It was pretty amazing.

Here are some lovely flower shots from the wedding we made this past weekend. The lavender anemone were stunning! We also used a gorgeous lavender spray rose and green orchids. To make the arrangements stand out even more on the tables, we also added touches of white, and deep plum calla lily.

The wedding reception took place at the Prospect Park Picnic House. Beautiful views of the park, and perfect Fall weather added to the special day for the bride and groom.

The wedding we made this past weekend had a beautiful array of the flowers that are in season.

We were given the freedom to pick out whatever we wanted and design arrangements for the bar and cocktail tables for this low key affair. We chose a variety of white, peach and mauve dahlias, blue viburnum berry, scabiosa (pod and flower), and amaranthus to name a few. The bride also wanted a pop of pink which came out looking so sophisticated with the burgundy, peach and cream.

Her bouquet: some of the first ranunculus of the season in all white. We are happy to see its return and it will be available till late Spring! Truly, this is every florist's favorite.

"Springtime in Fall" Inspiration Board.

We created this inspiration board for Grace, whose wedding is coming up on October 23rd. When we first spoke, she told us that she wanted a yellow, blue and raspberry theme, and loved the airy, whimsical quality of spring flowers.

This board was our starting point for showing the bride that you can achieve this feeling, using what is in season right now. She loved the idea of using berries, dahlias, and garden roses.

Our design developed further after that to include vintage and woodland elements like mercury glass vases for the centerpieces, blue mason jars and vintage bud vases for the cocktail lounge, and rustic urns filled with seasonal branches. Needless to say, we are looking forward to creating the flowers for this gorgeous wedding!!!

About three months ago, I got married and recently I realized that I had never shared pictures of the day on this blog. So, here are a few of my favorites ... That's Ruth in the first picture pinning the corsage on my Mom.

Jeremy and I wrote our own vows. It wasn't easy to try and say all the things that we wanted to in a few paragraphs, but we managed. And we shed a tear or two in the process. My favorite 3 year old was fascinated with the flowers and wanted my play with my bouquet. There was no negotiating with her.

I made all the floral elements for the wedding, and to keep things simple I filled mason jars with all one type of flower, hosta, fern or millet.

I love the last photo. It was taken right after the ceremony and we both felt a huge sense of relief to have the formal part of the day over with. We were no longer nervous and knew that soon we would soon be eating and drinking with our guests (which was our favorite part of the day).

The most wonderful time of the year

It finally feels like fall in New York and I'm loving it. This is my favorite time of year for a number of reasons, one of them being the beautiful flowers that are available. In this arrangement I used: dahlia, roses, lisianthus, scabiosa flowers, scabiosa pods and hosta leaves.

Here is a sneak peek at the the wedding we worked on last weekend. We collaborated with Ara of Rock Paper Scissors Events to bring the bride's vision to life. It was a tall order: 33 tables for a modern Indian wedding!

Using classic wedding flowers like roses, carnations, and even baby's breath, we created these fun and contemporary centerpieces and bouquets. The trick is sticking to one type of flower and clean, geometric shapes to achieve the look.

The bouquets were arranged to be a little softer and more romantic, with roses, calla lilies and orchids. I love the way these rich red blooms look against the silver dusty miller leaves.

Fabric Floral Wedding.

We recently completed out biggest order for custom fabric flowers ever! The bride-to-be, Tamara, thoughtfully ordered something for everyone. She sent us inspiration images in her color palette of navy, white and yellow. She had a style theme which was clean, summery, and J.Crew.

Above are just a sampling of the boutonnieres we created for the groom, groomsmen, ushers, fathers, grandfathers and ring bearer.

Wrist corsages were created for the mothers, grandmothers, and even her friends who helped with the guest book. Each one has trailing navy ribbons for tying onto the wrist.

And last but not least we created these bouquets (there were six all together). We used a base of sheer white and navy organza for the larger flowers. Then we created many smaller ribbon flowers to tuck in throughout. The ribbons were chosen not only for their color but for contrasting textures: shiny silk, grosgrain, pleated, and metallic. Vintage pearl buttons, stamens and white leaves really made the finished pieces pop.

All the pieces were carefully packaged and shipped to Tennessee, were the wedding will be held this weekend. Congratulations to you Tamara! And many thanks for choosing us to create your wedding flowers.

The Art of Flower Arrangement

I always appreciate a good book, but this time I believe I have found something really special: The Rockwells' New Complete Book of Flower Arrangement.

On the inside cover is the name of the previous owner (Mrs. Albert W. O'Neill) along with the name of her garden club (Ten Hills Garden Club) and the date, (April 1, 1960).

In the first chapter, my favorite part is:

"Whether or not the acquisition of interesting containers become a real hobby, you are sure to get a thrill out of hunting up and procuring a few of them....If hubby happens to have the "do-it-yourself" malady, he may like to turn out some original containers, bases, or accessories for you. This naturally, may have its dangerous aspects. You alone can judge as to this possibility."

I can't wait to read chapter 2.

Enchanted Forest Wedding

This past weekend we arranged these gorgeous arrangements and bouquet for a wedding in Saugerties, NY. Alhia, the bride, wanted an "enchanted forest" theme for her decor and was inspired by the surrounding landscape. She also loved roses and whimsical touches, like butterflies.

The Bride's bouquet had a gardeny mixture of heirloom roses and summer flowers, including nerrines, scabiosa pods, lavender, veronica, jasmine vine and umbrella fern.For the centerpieces, we arranged the flowers to appear as though "growing" out of a bed of moss, a perfect miniature landscape, with birch branches in the center. The overall look was effortless and summery. Butterflies adorned the top and vines spiraled up the branches and draped at the base.

The reception was held at The Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club, which had beautiful views of the golf course through french doors, and spectacular chandeliers throughout the space.

Married in Brooklyn

Jeremy and I tied the knot last Friday, June 25. It was an amazing day, and we are thankful to have had our families and friends there with us to celebrate. I can't wait so share more pictures of our big day soon! Picture via Kenny D.

When in Doubt ... Sash It

About a month ago, Sarah of ClassicBride hosted a give-away on her blog with one of our fabric flower pieces (pictured below). For a chance to win it, Brides-to-be were asked to leave a comment on what they would use it for: a sash, corsage or hairpiece. There were so many comments! We noticed many of Brides wanted fabric flower sashes, not only for the their own gowns, but they also wanted them for their bridesmaids, flower girls, and rehearsal dinner outfits. We immediately started brainstorming new styles. Below are two finished pieces.

This sash has three florets in plum and silver, a long plum grosgrain ribbon tied in the back, velvet leaves and vintage buttons. For a softer look: a large white garden rose, with a pop of red in the center, tied with black ribbon. I love how the sash can make a very simple dress more special, and they can be worn again.

If your bridesmaids are wearing different style dresses, they could each wear one to bring the look together. Thank you to all the Classic Bride readers for sharing their ideas with us!

Recently we collaborated with some super talented vendors for this "Marie Antoinette" inspired photo shoot. It took place in the de Gournay showroom in the Flatiron District.

Ara of Rock Papers Scissors was the event stylist, Allan Zepeda shot all the photos and Michelle of Paper Eight designed the paper goods.

Ruth and I created the soft and fluffy arrangements with ranunculus, queen anne's lace, sweet pea, hydrangea, geranium and ostrich feathers. The pops of orange are ornithogalum.

Hugo Boss

A few months ago, Ruth and I spent a day in the Meatpacking District giving-away bouquets for Hugo Boss as a part of the W Magazine Shop W Style day. Our arrangements were on display throughout the store, and we were in front, with a table styled as a mini flower market. We just received these pictures from a staff reporter at W Magazine and wanted to share!

We met tons of beautiful and wonderfully dressed people, including Sarah Gore Reeves (see picture #2). The woman in picture #4 is also a famous stylist.....but I can't remember her name.....does anyone know who she is?

Jungle Theme Event at the Foundry

Last weekend we had a jungle themed party at The Foundry in Long Island City. The space is raw and industrial, and we had a great time decorating it with vines, tropical leaves, ropes, spanish moss, lanterns and hundreds of candles. Last week I found this unusual flower in the market. The guys in the market called it Isopogen, and apparently the cone-shaped flower in the picture below is produced after the bloom.

The people in the market couldn't tell me much more about the flower so I did a bit of research. According to this website the Isopogen is in the protea family and originated in Australia.

We always love to find new flowers - so finding this wild looking bunch was pretty exciting!

Elizabeth and Karim had a gorgeous and intimate April wedding, held at The River Cafe. Elizabeth's inspiration was timeless, romantic and feminine style. She added many sweet details to her table. One of my favorite's was the white crocheted votives, made by her Mom. The wedding also appeared in last Sunday's New York Times!

For their flowers, we selected a variety of cream and peach heirloom roses. Also included were ranunculus, lisianthus, hydrangea, and andromeda. The antique style vase, with the cracked ceramic finish, added to the nostalgic feel of the centerpieces.

The first three photographs in this post were taken by Kella Macphee who has many more stunning photos on her blog. The images feel so personal and Kella really captured the happiness of the couple.

Bows and Arrows is a must read blog created by Alicia and Adam Rico. After their unforgettable wedding, (which was posted in Brooklyn Bride) they relocated from New York to Alicia's hometown: Dallas, Texas. Once there, they immediately got to work on their dream shop. Bows and Arrows is a fun and discerning mix of Art, Floral Design and Craft. I always find something fresh and interesting here.

We arranged these 2 pieces for Amanne's table at Sunday's Brooklyn Bride event at BAM. We were inspired by Amanne's West African jewelry and for each piece we used grass to create a unique vase treatment. One was bear grass braided and secured on each each end, the other was grass that we wove together like a basket.

New Bouquet in shades of white and champagne! Yvonne, who owns Kimera Design offered us her beautiful silks and organza that were to small for her use. We transformed them from scraps to scrumptious. To keep the look modern, the flowers were made to evoke the shapes of roses and poppies, without trying to be too literal or "fake" looking. My favorite parts are the little details like floral stamens and white velvet leaves. Stop by the Kimera boutique for a closer look. This one will be on sale there.

More details for a fabric wedding: a wrist corsage that ties on. Made with a combination of Yvonne's fabric and grosgrain ribbons.

A fabric boutonniere for the Groom completes the look. This one matches the bouquet in color but has a sharp, crisp look to keep it masculine. We still have more work to do. Look for a vibrant pink and orange set coming soon!

Giving the gift of flowers can now last a little longer! Whenever we get a request to send a gift arrangement, we include a handmade note-card, designed by Ruth. These keepsakes are pretty enough to frame!
