Julia and Dean were married on June 10th at Guastavino's, New York; a unique venue with amazing vaulted ceilings and architectural details. The couple wanted to bring their two seemingly different tastes together in their floral arrangements and decor. Julia favored a more romantic, natural style and Dean had a more modern aesthetic in mind.
We created a mix of tall and low centerpieces in shades of amethyst (Julia's favorite), lavender and plum. Each tall arrangement had four varieties of orchids in those shades, a classic "modern" centerpiece, which we softened a bit using trailing clematis vines. The low centerpieces were created with seasonal June flowers such as garden roses and peonies...very romantic. Each centerpiece was surrounded by floating candles and mirrors. By keeping the colors the same throughout, we were able to "marry" the two styles.
For the ceremony, we created an ethereal chuppah with sheer white organza draping and lined the aisle with pillar candles in modern vessels. It looked so striking against the backdrop of the venue. The couple even placed their sweetheart table in front of the chuppah afterwards and used it for their cake cutting ceremony. I love that they were able to enjoy it for their entire wedding.
Another highlight of the decor was the display we made for the seating cards ( the last two photos...no cards were placed yet)...The cards were placed on the mirrors and plexiglass. The flowers were simply arranged and scattered underneath the glass. I had so much fun putting this piece together!
